Visual Voices: Art Therapy

Break through all the talk and honor your experience by creating a personal totem.  This creative process will provide profound insights towards self-discovery.  No art experience is necessary and all materials will be provided.  All ages welcome.  Facilitator:

Yoga as
Cancer Support

Saturdays beginning 1/15/12
This 6-week Yoga series will promote the healing of your mind, body and spirit. Relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and gentle movements will improve overall strength, increase energy and help you cope with stress.  No experience  necessary. Facilitator: John Muraco, MAT Certified Yoga Instructor for individuals living with cancer

Writing Sideways:
A New Perspective

Saturday 1/28/12, 1-4pm   Stimulating prompts will excavate your story in this afternoon expressive writing workshop. Seize this opportunity to release and illuminate  your triumphs and adversities, then bear witness to others experiences if you chose to share.

ART THERAPY

Group Art Therapy is an excellent modality in which to engage children, teens and adults.  Positive outcomes for a wide variety of populations and presenting concerns are achieved through therapeutic  expression.   The following are just a few of the goals that can be attained through group work in art therapy:

  • Reinforcing recovery and building community with individuals experiencing mental health issues
  • Practicing conflict resolution and communication skills for teens
  • Healthy relationship, conflict resolution and assertiveness training for teens and parents
  • Building trust, coping with loss and transition for individuals in bereavement

WOMEN'S GRACE

"Its the human experience to have loss, loss of all different forms,"  reminds Susie Faden.  She combines many years of hospice care and grief/loss group facilitation with a genuinely warm presence.  She draws you into a refreshing space of compassion in such a  way that you feel like its her privilege to honor your unique experience.  "How is it that we have the capacity to feel grace for another when they suffer, but are unable to do the same for ourselves?" she asks, and invites you to "explore together how to live more fully while living with grief.
